The musical Hair was conceived in 1967: so was I. The first song in that show "Aquarius" tells of changing times, the beginning of a new epoch. Damn dirty hippies.
Today, Barack Obama became President, after campaigning under a call for changing times, for the beginning of a new epoch. January 20 is also the first day of the astrological sign Aquarius. Is this the dawning of our own Age of Aquarius? Astrologers differ as much as 2100 years as to when exactly the Age fo Aquarius began or begins, but it might as well be today.
Here's another band you probably have never heard before -- the downtempo/chillout electronic duo Boards of Canada (who aren't Canadian at all, but Scottish). This is one of Chloe's favorite songs. This video is fan-created, but is very much in keeping with the aesthetic that BoC works in. This song is called "Aquarius," but is unrelated to the song from Hair. Enjoy.
